About HotMap
HotMap is a next-generation Web search interface that uses visualization and interaction to support searchers in both crafting effective queries and exploring the search results. Current Web search engines are very effective when people search for very specific information. However, it is common for searchers to not have a clear understanding of what it is they are looking for. In theses cases, the interactive visual interface provided by HotMap helps searchers to find the information they are seeking. For information on HotMap's interface and how it can be helpful, visit the help page.
This work is based on the doctoral research conducted by Dr. Orland Hoeber, in collaboration with his supervisor Dr. Xue Dong Yang, at the University of Regina. Dr. Hoeber is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Memorial University (St. John's, NL Canada). More information on the research that has lead to the developments in this Web search interface can be found in the following sections on Dr. Hoeber's web site:
HotMap is currently undergoing beta testing. If you are interested in becoming a tester of HotMap, send us an email at info@thehotmap.com.
